About ME
Hi, I'm Ashley, your dedicated postpartum doula in the Saskatoon Area.

HOW IT STARTED
I have always enjoyed helping people
I’m a youth worker and disability support worker by school and I knew that I wanted to do more for others. I have been the go to auntie girl for years and never really thought about having kids until I got pregnant with our sweet little girl. I fell in love with pregnancy and creating life. I was okay with just being the cool auntie and never put my life into the box of being a mom, now I never could imagine not being a mother.
I was fortunate enough to also be able to be in the room of two births for my sister in laws, now this was not planned or wanted at the time but life gave it to me and it secretly sat in the back of my brain for 5 years till it came forth and started to make me feel like I was needing to accomplish more with this opportunity.
My labour and birth unfortunately was traumatic with my daughter where I was scared, I had no idea what was going on and I wasn’t listened to. It wasn’t until a hospital doula came into my room randomly and saved me. Picked me up off the floor and held me and nurtured me back to feeling some sort of connection with my baby. She sat with me and watched as I looked into my babies eyes and finally connected with her after 12 hours of just being in the same room.
After this I went home and I started my postpartum journey of loss of identity, frustration with acceptance and anxiety over leaving my daughter alone. I’m thankful for the support of my husband and mother but I knew I needed a little more. I needed a postpartum doula.
I needed someone to listen, to care for me the way my family couldn’t. I needed someone to talk to me like I wasn’t broken and soft after just giving birth. I needed someone to just say yes to my needs and attend to me or my baby.
I want to help other mommas feel seen, heard and accepted through all stages of postpartum. I know that with my personality, my journey with being traumatized to have another baby, my compassion to lean in and support other women going through the same process, that I can help you with your postpartum needs. I can help others who have been traumatized through birth and to let them know that there is a way you can heal. And we can heal together. I’m here, slow and steady. We will win the journey together.
